Static Socks
Illustration: ChatGPT

These thick, woolen socks seem ordinary at first, but they crackle faintly with latent static energy when dragged across a surface. Their fibers are enchanted to accumulate electrical charge from friction—but only when they have direct contact with the ground.

Charge Buildup

While wearing these socks with no footwear covering them, you can shuffle or drag your feet against the ground for 1 uninterrupted minute (moving at least 10 feet per round) to build up a charge of static electricity. You can store up to 3 charges at a time. The socks lose all stored charges if you remove them or wear shoes over them.

Static Shock

As an action, you can expend 1 to 3 charges to make a melee spell attack against a creature within 5 feet. On a hit, the target takes lightning damage per charge expended (maximum ).
If you are not a spellcaster or do not have a spell attack modifier, use +3 as your modifier for this attack instead.
